Blue Hill By Hand’s unique handmade product line was born in the spring of 1986. Laura Crawford, then a 17 year old, started making and selling jewelry as a senior at Malcolm Shabazz City High School in Madison, WI. Encouraged by her teachers to follow her dreams to be an artist, and being a free spirit, she began traveling throughout the United States and Europe designing, producing and selling her handmade jewelry at local art fairs and festivals throughout the 1990s, including Lilith Fair. Laura’s vision of a company where people collaborate to make beautiful handmade products provides the guiding principles at Blue Hill By Hand. Our designs are hand made, one-at-a-time by artisans right here in our community. We pride ourselves on making unique designs of consistent quality and craftsmanship.
